Downey to transfer from Cincinnati
Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) – Guard Devan Downey has decided to leave
Cincinnati’s basketball program to be closer to his family.
Downey, a freshman from Chester, South Carolina, announced he will
transfer after the spring semester. He started 31 of the Bearcats’ 34 games
last season and was the team’s third-leading scorer, averaging 11.9 points. He
also topped Cincinnati in assists (4.3) and steals (1.9).
“This has been a difficult decision because of the great support I have
received from the UC fans who have made me feel like family,” Downey said. “I
thank them for their support. Family is important to me and I would like to
take this opportunity to play closer to home, where my family can see me
