Furman tags Jackson as new head coach

Greenville, SC (Sports Network) – Furman University named Jeff Jackson the
new men’s head basketball coach on Monday.

Jackson will be the school’s 16th head coach after serving as Vanderbilt’s
assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the past seven seasons. In
2004, the year the Commodores reached the Sweet 16, Jackson was named one of
the top 25 college basketball recruiters in the country by

“This is a signal moment in the history of Furman basketball,” said Furman’s
director of athletics Dr. Gary Clark. “In Jeff Jackson we have secured an
accomplished recruiter and experienced floor coach who will be an outstanding
leader of our basketball program. He is also a gentleman of the highest
integrity who will be an ideal ambassador for Paladin basketball.”

Jackson also has three years of head coaching experience at New Hampshire,
where he compiled a record of 21-60 from 1997-99.
