Trojans guard Francis shot and killed
Baton Rouge, LA (Sports Network) – Southern California freshman point guard
Ryan Francis was shot and killed while riding in a car early Saturday morning.
Lt. Keith Bates of the Baton Rouge police department told The Advocate of
Baton Rouge that the 19-year-old Francis was riding in a car around 3 a.m.
when he was shot. The newspaper reported a suspect is in custody.
Francis had returned home to Louisiana after finishing the spring semester at
USC. He played his high school ball at Glen Oaks High School and averaged
7.1 points and 3.7 assists last season for the Trojans.
During his playing days in high school, Francis led Glen Oaks to a 36-0 record
and the state 4-A title during his senior season.
