Afflalo withdraws from NBA Draft, will return to Bruins

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – UCLA guard Arron Afflalo pulled out of the
NBA Draft on Saturday, instead deciding to return to the Bruins for his junior
campaign.

The first-team Pac-10 performer led UCLA in scoring last season, averaging
15.8 points per game and playing a large role in the Bruins’ run to the NCAA
championship game.

Now, the Bruins will wait to see if Afflalo’s backcourt mate, Jordan Farmar,
also decides to withdraw from the draft. Farmar and Afflalo declared on the
same day and neither player hired an agent, keeping open the possibility of
returning to school.

Players have until 5 p.m. (et) on Sunday to withdraw.

Farmar and Afflalo complemented each other en route to a Pac-10 regular season
championship and conference tournament title last season. Farmar averaged 13.5
points per game and was known for his quiet confidence and deadly long-
distance shooting, while Afflalo was more comfortable creating off the dribble
and attacking the basket.
