Crimson Tide Rolls Past Jackson State

Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) – Jermareo Davidson and Mykal Riley each had
17 points to lift 11th-ranked Alabama over Jackson State, 96-65, at Coleman

Davidson also had 10 rebounds while Alonzo Gee chipped in 16 for the Crimson
Tide (1-0), who never trailed in the game and won their third consecutive
season opener.

Richard Hendrix added nine points and eight rebounds in Alabama’s 13th
straight home-opener win.

Trey Johnson, the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s preseason player of the
year, netted 36 of the Tigers’ 65 points on 11-of-30 shooting. No other player
had more than four points for Jackson State (0-1), which has lost both of its
all-time meetings with Alabama.

The Crimson Tide put the game away quickly and led 51-29 at the half after
shooting 60.6 percent in the opening 20 minutes.

Alabama hit on a blistering 52.2 percent of its shots while Jackson State
countered by hitting just 29.6 percent from the floor.

Jeremy Caldwell and Julius Young were among four Tigers players that finished
with four points.

Game Notes

Alabama improved to 78-16 all-time in season openers and 39-1 since 1968 in
home openers…The Crimson Tide defeated Jackson State 101-66 in their first-
ever meeting, which took place in December of 2005 in Tuscaloosa.
