No. 23 Ga. Tech downs Jackson State

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) – Lewis Clinch netted 16 points, as the 23rd-
ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets continued their season-opening
three-game homestand with a 100-70 victory over the Jackson State Tigers in

Ra’Sean Dickey posted 15 points and eight rebounds for the Yellow Jackets
(2-0), who opened their 2006-07 campaign in convincing fashion as they
trounced Elon, 83-49, on Friday. Zach Peacock and Thaddeus Young scored 14
points apiece, and Javaris Crittenton added 12 points and 10 assists.

Trey Johnson poured in 33 points for the Tigers (0-2), who opened their season
against a ranked opponent and proved to be no match in a 96-65 loss at then
11th-ranked Alabama on Friday. Julius Young had 14 points as the only other
JSU player in double figures.

Georgia Tech exploded on a 34-10 run capped by a Jeremis Smith free throw with
8:54 left in the first half. The Yellow Jackets staked a 52-31 halftime
advantage, and never trailed thereafter.

GT shot 39-for-60 (65 percent) from the field, compared to 24-for-61 (39
percent) by JSU.

The Yellow Jackets outran the Tigers, outscoring them 22-4 in fast-break

Georgia Tech will close out its homestand against Georgia State on Thursday.
This game marked the first-ever meeting between JSU and Georgia Tech on the
