Top-ranked Florida runs over North Florida

Gainesville, FL (Sports Network) – Al Horford scored 17 points, pulled down 11
rebounds and added four blocks, as the top-ranked Florida Gators rolled past
the North Florida Ospreys, 86-40.

Joakim Noah netted 15 points with 10 rebounds for the Gators (2-0), who have
won 13 straight games dating back to last season. Lee Humphrey and Taurean
Green each had 12 points in the win.

Florida recorded its 22nd straight victory over a non-conference team,
including 15 in a row at home.

The Gators continued to get off to fast starts, improving to 38-4 in the month
of November under head coach Billy Donovan.

Rashad Williams carried North Florida’s offense with 21 points and six
boards, while James Grimball added seven points for the Ospreys (0-3), who
were coming off two losses in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

a layup less than five minutes into the first half.

Chris Timberlake stopped the bleeding with a three-pointer for North Florida,
but Humphrey’s jumper ignited a 14-0 spurt that put the Gators up 24-5 with
9:10 to go. Chris Richard netted four straight points during the burst.

Florida carried a 38-20 edge into the break.

It was much of the same in the second half as a Green three-pointer put the
Gators ahead 58-26 with 12:49 remaining. A 10-0 Florida run later put the
Gators up 68-28.

Timberlake finished with five points…Marreese Speights netted eight points
for the Gators, while Walter Hodge added seven…Florida shot 54 percent from
the floor, while North Florida shot just 31 percent…The Gators hit just 50
percent from the free throw line…Florida’s current 13-game winning streak is
the fourth longest in school history. The program has a pair of 14-game
streaks, most recently over the 2002-03 season.
