No. 5 Ohio State Cooks Colonels

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) – Daequan Cook poured in 22 points on 10-of-13
shooting as fifth-ranked Ohio State cruised to a 74-45 victory over Eastern
Kentucky.

Mike Conley Jr. contributed 13 points on 6-of-6 shooting for the Buckeyes
(4-0), who were coming off their BCA Classic Championship. Ron Lewis added 11
points.

Darnell Dialls was the only player to score in double figures for the Colonels
(2-1) with 11 points.

The Colonels held a surprising early lead but with the score tied 15-15, the
Buckeyes, led by Cook, closed out the half by outscoring Eastern Kentucky 28-8
to take a commanding 43-23 lead into the break.

It was more of the same in the second half as the Colonels were unable to
mount a comeback.

Game Notes

Ohio State has only eight scholarship players in its lineup until freshman
center Greg Oden is healthy enough to take the court. Oden, a two-time
national high school player of the year, is still recovering from wrist
surgery…The Buckeyes shot 58 percent from the floor, while Eastern Kentucky
shot 43 percent…Ohio State wore grey uniforms for the first time in 10
years.
