Adrien leads No. 21 UConn past Fairfield
Hartford, CT (Sports Network) – Jeff Adrien recorded a double-double with 17
points and 12 rebounds to lead 21st-ranked Connecticut past Fairfield, 74-49,
in the second round of the Hispanic College Fund Classic from the Hartford
Hasheem Thabeet and A.J. Price each netted 12 points for the Huskies (3-0),
who shot an impressive 50 percent from the field. UConn will next battle Ole
Miss on Sunday.
Greg Nero scored all of his 12 points in the first half for the Stags (0-5),
who have yet to win a game this season. Marty O’Sullivan was Fairfield’s only
other scorer in double figures with 10 points.
Led by Price’s 11 points in the first half, the Huskies went into the break
with a 41-33 advantage. UConn shot a scorching 56.5 percent from the floor in
the first 20 minutes and forced the Stags to turn the ball over eight times.

Thabeet donated seven points during the surge. Two free throws by Curtis Kelly
made it a 20-point cushion for UConn with just under 13 minutes remaining in

The lead then grew to 23 points after Marcus Johnson drained a jump shot to
make it 70-47 with around five minutes remaining.
Fairfield was unable to pull closer than 20 points the remainder of the
UConn has now won 22 straight home games…The Huskies own a commanding 27-5
advantage over Fairfield, and have won the last 17 meetings in the all-time
series. The Huskies are also a perfect 11-0 versus the Stags at the Hartford
Civic Center…The Stags have lost 14 consecutive games to ranked opponents.
