No. 15 Arizona topples New Mexico State
Tucson, AZ (Sports Network) – Ivan Radenovic scored 25 points on 10-of-13
shooting to lead the 15th-ranked Arizona Wildcats to a 102-87 victory over the
New Mexico State Aggies at McKale Center.
Jawann McClellan had 22 points and Marcus Williams added 20 for the Wildcats
(2-1), who play Samford on Tuesday.
Fred Peete netted 18 points to lead six players in double-figures for the
Aggies (1-2), who are at New Mexico on November 28. Martin Iti chipped in 16
points and Elijah Ingram and Justin Hawkins scored 13 points apiece.
Ted Knauber’s jumper gave the Aggies an 8-7 early lead, but the Wildcats
scored 25 unanswered points. The surge began with a Williams layup and his
dunk a few minutes later pushed the lead to 18-8. Chase Buddinger’s layup
capped the surge for a 32-8 advantage.
New Mexico State didn’t score for nearly eight minutes to add fuel to the run.
Trailing 37-17, the Aggies went on a 10-3 rally, highlighted by Jonathan
Gibson’s three-point play, to pull within 40-29.
Arizona led 47-33 at the half.
Williams’ trey extended the lead to 18, 71-53, but New Mexico State scored
nine of the next 11 points, including seven points from Hawkins, narrowing the
gap to 73-62 with under 10 minutes on the clock.

The Aggies countered with an 17-6 surge, highlighted by threes from Ingram and
Knauber, cutting the deficit to 87-82 with under four minutes on the clock.
The Wildcats answered with a 13-3 burst, including four points from Mustafa
Shakur, for a 100-85 lead with under a minute to play.
Arizona shot 57 percent from the floor while the Aggies connected on 49
percent of their shots from the field…The Wildcats won the rebounding battle
41-26…New Mexico State’s bench outscored Arizona’s 35-1.
