Fazekas leads the Pack as Nevada clobbers UC-Irvine
Reno, NV (Sports Network) – Nick Fazekas poured in a game-high 29 points to
lead 21st-ranked Nevada past Cal-Irvine, 83-64, at Lawlor Events Center.
Fazekas shot 8-of-14 from the floor, converting on 10-of-13 free throws, and
grabbed 14 rebounds for the Wolf Pack (4-0), who finished 49 percent shooting.
Marcelus Kemp scored 23 points and Kyle Shiloh had 15. Ramon Sessions added
seven points and dished out seven assists.
Patrick Sanders led Cal-Irvine (2-4) with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting with
seven boards and Adam Templeton contributed 13 points with four assists.
The Anteaters shot 44 percent (19-of-43) from the field.
Up by three early in the first half, Nevada went on a 17-6 burst capped by
Kemp’s trey with 7:48 remaining. The Wolf Pack led 42-34 at halftime.
It was much of the same in the second half as Cal-Irvine never mounted a
threat and trailed by as many as 20.
Nevada improved to 11-5 in the all-time series with UC-Irvine…The Anteaters
committed 17 turnovers, compared to eight by the Wolf Pack.
