Georgetown downs Fairfield

Bridgeport, CT (Sports Network) – Freshman DaJuan Summers netted 17 points on
6-of-10 shooting to lead 14th-ranked Georgetown past Fairfield, 73-60, at the
Arena at Harbor Yard.

Jessie Sapp added 14 points for the Hoyas (3-1), who rebounded from their
first loss of the season, a 75-62 setback at the hands of Old Dominion. Roy
Hibbert contributed nine points and six blocks for Georgetown.

Mike Van Schaick scored 14 points for the Stags (1-6), who lost to Georgetown
for the fifth consecutive time. Danny Oglesby added 13 points and six rebounds
off the bench for Fairfield.

The Stags just couldn’t stop Georgetown on the defensive end. The Hoyas shot a
sizzling 56 percent from the field in the contest, including 8-of-19 from
three-point range.

Georgetown took over what was a close game with a 17-2 burst to open the
second half. Summers opened the flurry with a lay-in and Jonathan Wallace
finished it with a three as the Hoyas took an insurmountable 51-32 edge with
12:55 left in the game.

The Stags never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way as Georgetown
coasted to the win.

Georgetown holds a 14-4 edge over Fairfield in the all-rime series…The
attendance was 5,627, the largest regular-season crowd in Fairfield history.
