The game was nowhere near as close as last season’s first-round contest in the

before falling down the stretch in a 72-59 defeat.

Jamar Wilson led Albany (2-2) with 18 points while Jason Siggers had 16 points
and seven rebounds. Albany shot just 35 percent from the floor and committed
21 turnovers. The Huskies scored 35 points off those miscues.

The Great Danes hung tough early, holding a 15-13 edge eight minutes in.
However, the Huskies ran off 13 straight points later in the period to take a
38-22 advantage.

Jerome Dyson scored five of the points, and Johnson’s dunk and layup
culminated the stretch with 4:21 left in the half. UConn held a 47-31 edge at
the break.

Jeff Adrien, who tallied 11 points, drained a jumper to push the lead to 63-42
with just over 10 minutes to play, and Albany only got as close as 18 the rest
of the way.
