Saint Joseph’s Martelli reprimanded

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) – Head basketball coach Phil Martelli of
Saint Joseph University was reprimanded by Atlantic 10 commissioner Linda
Bruno on Monday for comments made regarding the officiating after Saturday’s
game at Penn State University.

“The Atlantic 10 expects its coaches, student-athletes, and administrators to
conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times,” said Bruno. “Coach
Martelli’s comments were uncharacteristic of the high standards to which he
holds himself and his student-athletes. I appreciate that coach Martelli has
contacted the official in question to apologize for his comments and I am
confident that he will avoid an incident such as this in the future.”

The Hawks are 3-1 after dropping Saturday’s game to Penn State, 65-61.
