Aggies pound Arkansas-Little Rock
College Station, TX (Sports Network) – Acie Law scored 17 points and dished
out seven assists, as the No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies blasted the Arkansas-Little
Rock Trojans, 75-35, in a non-conference clash.
Joseph Jones scored 16 points for the Aggies (6-0), who have won all six of
their games thus far, and all of those tilts have taken place at home. Antanas
Kavaliauskas posted 13 points and nine boards, and Josh Carter added 11
Rashad Jones-Jennings scored 10 points as the only player in double figures
for UALR (4-3), which had a modest two-game winning streak snapped. Lekheythan
Malone and Byron Ray both added six points in defeat.
The Aggies raced out to a 25-9 lead to open the game, capped by a pair of
Dominique Kirk free throws with 8:22 remaining, and led 43-17 at halftime.
The Aggies shot 26-for-45 (57.8 percent) from the floor, while the Trojans
finished 13-for-50 (26 percent). A&M outrebounded UALR, 33-28.
This game marked the first-ever meeting between UALR and Texas A&M on the
hardwood…Texas A&M outscored UALR, 36-18, in points in the paint, and 26-4
in points scored off turnovers…The Aggies have won 28 straight home games
against non-conference opponents.
