No.5 Kansas crushes Dartmouth
Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) – Darrell Arthur and Darnell Jackson each scored
13 points, as fifth-ranked Kansas dominated Dartmouth, 83-32, at Allen
Jackson also had 10 rebounds for the Jayhawks, who were coming off an 82-80
overtime victory over the defending national champion Florida Gators last
Saturday in the final round of the Las Vegas Invitational.
Julian Wright added 12 points for Kansas (6-1), which has rattled off five
DeVon Mosley was the only Dartmouth player in double figures with 11 points.
Alex Barnett was the second leading scorer with just six points for the Big
Green (0-6), who have yet to win a game this season.
The Jayhawks stormed out of the gates and opened the contest on a 15-2 run to
take control early. Mario Chalmers drilled two three-pointers during the
Kansas ended the first half on a 14-4 surge to take a commanding 40-13 lead
Brandon Rush led the balanced Jayhawks offensive attack with nine points in
the opening 20 minutes. Kansas also shot 50 percent from the field in the
first half and scored 20 points off 14 Dartmouth turnovers.
The Jayhawks opened the second half on an 14-2 dash to take a 54-15 lead and
continued to cruise the rest of the way, outscoring the Big Green 43-19 over
the final 20 minutes of the contest.
This game marked the first-ever meeting between Dartmouth and Kansas on the
hardwood…The Jayhawks outrebounded the Big Green, 51-20…Dartmouth finished
with 19 turnovers as Kansas scored 27 points off the turnovers…The Jayhawks
got 39 points off their bench…All of Dartmouth losses this season have come
by double figures.
