Davidson powers No. 6 Alabama past Tennessee State

Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) – Jermareo Davidson scored a game-high 22
points to lead sixth-ranked Alabama past Tennessee State, 78-60, at Coleman

Mykal Riley added 14 points for the undefeated Crimson Tide (7-0), who have
won five games by double-digits this season. Ronald Steele contributed 12
points while Alonzo Gee had 11 for Alabama.

Clarence Matthews had 17 points for the Tigers, who lost for the first time in
three games. Moraye Ivy netted 15 points and LaDarious Weaver contributed 12
for Tennessee State.

The plucky Tigers were hanging around until Alabama closed the first half with
an impressive 9-2 run, featuring a big three from Steele, to take a 43-30 edge
into the locker room.

The Tide then put things away by scoring 15 of the game’s first 19 points in
the final frame. Davidson’s bucket, with a little over 15 minutes left, gave
Alabama a commanding 58-34 advantage.

The Tigers had one last push in them and went on a 13-2 flurry. Ivy’s
hoop with about 12 minutes left drew Tennessee State to within 13, 60-47.

But, Alabama was able to hold the Tigers at arm’s length from there en route
to the easy victory.
