UCLA cruises past UC Riverside

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – Arron Afflalo netted 13 points as the top-
ranked UCLA Bruins remained undefeated after storming past UC Riverside, 61-
38, at Pauley Pavilion.

Luc Richard Mbah a Moute added 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the
Bruins (6-0), who shot 55 percent from the field. Lorenzo Mata and Josh Shipp
each donated 10 points in the victory.

UCLA is now 6-0 for the first time since the 1995 season when the Bruins
captured the national championship.

Henrik Thomsen scored eight points for the Highlanders (3-5), who have lost
three straight. Justin Bell was UC Riverside’s next highest scorer with only
seven points.

The Highlanders shot just 30 percent from the field for the game.

A 7-2 run with about four minutes left in the opening half gave UCLA a 24-14
lead. Mbah a Moute had five of the seven points during the surge.

Led by Mbah a Moute’s seven points, the Bruins went into halftime with a 26-16

UC Riverside was hampered by poor shooting in the opening 20 minutes, going
just 6-of-23 (26 percent) from the floor.

UCLA opened up a 15-point lead at 35-20 early in the second half after going
on a 9-0 run. Afflalo netted five consecutive points during the stretch,
including a three-pointer.

The Bruins’ went up 46-30 after Afflalo hit a jump shot with just under eight
minutes remaining.

UCLA continued to cruise in the second half and saw its lead grow to 22 points
at 55-33 after Shipp completed a three-point play with under five minutes left
in the contest.

Game Notes

UCLA leads the all-time series at 3-0…UC Riverside faced the No. 1 team in
the country for only the second time in its school history…The Bruins
outrebounded the Highlanders 39-22.
