Green, Butler rout Ball State
Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) – Mike Green scored a career-high 21 points,
as the 15th-ranked Butler Bulldogs of the Horizon League pounded the Ball
State Cardinals of the Mid-American Conference, 65-41, at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Julian Betko and A.J. Graves both scored 11 points for Butler (10-0), which
tied its third-best start in school history. The Bulldogs shot 18-for-45 (40
percent) from the field.
Anthony Newell netted 11 points as the only player in double figures for Ball
State (3-5), which had a modest two-game winning streak snapped. The Cardinals
shot a miserable 29.8 percent from the field.
Butler opened the game on a 22-7 run capped by a Betko three-pointer
with 9:30 remaining, and led 35-17 at halftime. Butler never trailed
Butler scored 19 points off turnovers compared to only four by Ball State. The
Bulldogs outrebounded the Cardinals, 34-31.
Green shot 5-of-9 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc…Butler owns
a commanding 61-37 lead in the all- time series with Ball State, including
wins in six of the last seven meetings with the Cardinals.
