South Bend, IN (Sports Network) – Russell Carter scored 27 points to lead the
upstart Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a 99-85 upset of the No. 4 Alabama
Crimson Tide. Kyle McAlarney and Colin Falls scored 20 points each for the
Fighting Irish (7-1). Rob Kurz added 14 points and 12 rebounds for Notre
Dame, which won its sixth in a row after its only loss of the season, a
71-69 loss to No. 15 Butler on November 13. Alonzo Gee led Alabama (7-1) in
scoring with 24 points, and added nine rebounds on the night. Mykal
Riley added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Crimson Tide. Ronald Steele
scored 13 points, and Jermareo Davidson and Richard Hendrix pulled down
10 boards each for Alabama, with Davidson scoring 12 points, and Hendrix
contributing nine points.
