Hendrix, Alabama pound Alabama State
Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) – Richard Hendrix scored a game-high 34 points
and added 10 rebounds as fourth-ranked Alabama hammered Alabama State, 92-58,
at Coleman Coliseum.
Hendrix was 15-of-19 from the floor and Alonzo Gee contributed with 16 points
as Alabama (8-1) rebounded from a 99-85 loss to Notre Dame on December 7. The
Crimson Tide have won eight of their last nine games and will host Southern
Mississippi on December 16.
Justin Tubbs finished with 13 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the field for the
Andrew Hayles had a team-high 21 points on 8-of-19 shooting for Alabama State
(2-5), which has lost three straight. Joel Bosh added nine points and nine
rebounds for the Hornets.
Alambama State will host Georgia State on December 16.
The Crimson Tide, who shot 69 percent from the field, got off to a quick start
and built a 51-30 halftime lead and never looked back.
The Hornets struggled through the contest, shooting only 38 percent from the
field, including a dismal 6-for-23 from three-point range. Alabama State also
had 13 turnovers.
Alabama continued to dominate the play in the second half, making 9-of-15 from
three-point distance, shooting at a 60 percent clip.

Davidson, who did not play in the contest, withdrew from classes for the fall
semester. Davidson’s girlfriend died in a car accident in November.
