Indiana State hands Butler first loss

Terre Haute, IN (Sports Network) – Gabe Moore had a game-high 24 points to
lead the Indiana State Sycamores to a 72-64 upset of the 15th-ranked Butler
Bulldogs at the Hulman Center.

Moore shot 8-of-14 and Trent Wurtz added 15 points and eight rebounds for the
Sycamores (5-3), who have won four of their last five games.

Mike Green had 18 points and Brandon Crone added 15 points and 10 rebounds for
the Bulldogs (10-1), who suffered their first loss of the season.

Indiana State took advantage of Butler’s poor shooting in the first half and
closed with a 17-5 run to give the Sycamores a 35-23 lead.

Butler only connected on 9-of-27 shots (33.3 percent) in the first half,
compared to 10-for-21 (47.6 percent) shooting for the Sycamores.

Moore’s basket to open the second half gave Indiana State its biggest lead of
the game, 37-23.

Several times the Bulldogs got to within seven points, but the Sycamores
always had an answer.

Moore sealed the victory with a steal and layup with 1:31 left, then hit two
free throws in the final minute to end Butler’s hopes.
