No. 25 Nevada topples St. Mary’s
Reno, NV (Sports Network) – Marcellus Kemp netted 20 points on 7-of-11
shooting to guide the Nevada Wolf Pack past St. Mary’s, 76-58, at Lawlor
Kemp also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists while Nick
Fazekas dropped in 19 points for Nevada (8-1), which fell to UNLV on Saturday.
Denis Ikolev added 10 points and eight boards.
Diamon Simpson finished with 18 points and eight rebounds and Brett Collins
totaled 16 points and nine boards for the Gaels (6-5), who are 0-4 away from
home this season.
The Wolf Pack went on an 11-3 run in the middle stages of the first half to
move in front, 18-10.
Nevada played front-runner from there, and led 30-23 at the break.
The Wolf Pack then began the second half with a 13-1 burst to pull away. Kemp
had five points in the run, including a jumper with 15:39 to play to cap it.
The Gaels did not threaten the rest of the way.
Nevada shot 55 percent from the floor, while Saint Mary’s shot 33
percent…St. Mary’s had 26 points off turnovers to Nevada’s 13…Nevada
outrebounded the Gaels, 40-31.
