No. 3 Ohio State rolls past Iowa State

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) – Daeuquan Cook scored 21 points to lead the
third-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes to a 75-56 rout of the Iowa State Cyclones.

Freshman sensation Greg Oden scored 18 points and pulled down nine boards for
Ohio State (10-1), which has won four in a row since it’s only setback, a
98-89 loss at No. 2 North Carolina. Mike Conley Jr. scored 15 points for the
Buckeyes, and Ivan Harris added 10 points.

Mike Taylor led Iowa State (7-5) with 24 points. Wesley Johnson was the only
other Cyclone to register double-figures in points, with 10 and eight
rebounds. Cory Johnson added eight points for the Cyclones, who fell for the
second straight time, and for the fifth time in six games after starting the
season 6-0.

The Cyclones hung tight with Ohio State, which struggled on the offensive end,
but the Buckeyes pulled away in the second half. A Taylor jumper brought Iowa
State to within 57-53 with 5:45 left, but the Buckeyes closed on a 20-3 run.
Taylor hit a three with just under four minutes left to stop a 7-0 stretch by
Ohio State, but the Buckeyes closed the game with 13 straight points to clinch
the win.

The Buckeyes seemingly took control of the game early, rolling off 15 straight
points in the early going to take a 19-8 lead. Iowa State fought back, though,
powered by Taylor, who hit a three with eight seconds left to bring the
Cyclones to within 29-28 at halftime.
