Douglas-Roberts leads Memphis over Lamar

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) – Chris Douglas-Roberts poured in 19 points and
grabbed seven rebounds to lead the 22nd-ranked Memphis Tigers past the Lamar
Cardinals, 87-62, at FedExForum.

Robert Dozier added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers (10-3), who
have won four of their last five games. Kareem Cooper and Jeremy Hunt each
contributed 12 points in the victory.

James Davis netted a game-high 20 points for the Cardinals (5-8), who have
lost two of their last four games overall. Currye Todd had 13 points and seven
boards in the loss.

Led by Douglas-Roberts’ 13 points, the Tigers went into the break with a 38-28
lead. Memphis shot 40 percent in the opening 20 minutes and limited Lamar to
just 22 percent shooting from the field.

The Cardinals also committed 14 turnovers in the first half that led to 16
points for Memphis.

Continuing to lead by 10 points early in the second half, the Tigers ripped
off a 7-0 run to take a 49-32 lead about five minutes into the second stanza.
Hunt netted four points during the stretch while Dozier donated the other
three points.

Memphis’ advantage ballooned to 21 points after Doneal Mack converted a layup
with about 11 minutes remaining as the Tigers cruised the rest of the contest.

Game Notes

Memphis now holds a 3-1 edge in the all-time series with Lamar, including a
108-83 victory in last season’s meeting with the Cardinals…The Tigers got 31
points from their bench…The Cardinals dropped their sixth straight road game
this season and have yet to win away from home…Lamar finished the contest
with 24 turnovers.
