Alabama continues homestand against Lipscomb

Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) – The eighth-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide
continue their three-game homestand tonight, as they host the Lipscomb
Bisons in non-conference play from Coleman Coliseum.

The Tide was last in play on Saturday, when it trounced Coppin State by a
score of 99-49. It was the fourth straight win by Alabama, which improved to
11-1 on the season. The victory also kept the Tide perfect at Coleman
Coliseum (6-0) this season and in the process extended its home-winning
streak to 13 games dating back a year ago.

As for Lipscomb, it also enters the contest on a high note, posting a
66-61 triumph over Liberty on December 21st. The win was the Bisons’ second in
three games, as they improved to 8-4 overall and 1-4 on the road.

Tonight’s game marks the first-ever meeting between Lipscomb and Alabama on
the hardwood.

The Bisons enter the contest netting 68.4 ppg on 40.8 percent shooting from
the field with three players averaging in double figures. Trey Williams
currently leads the team in scoring at 14.9 ppg and he also has 4.2 rpg and
3.9 apg to his credit. Eddie Ard is hot on his heels with 14.5 ppg and he is
also ripping down a team-high 6.3 rpg, while Brian Fisk chips in with 13.3
ppg. In the team’s last game, Ard poured in 24 points and collected eight
caroms in leading Lipscomb past Liberty. Fisk turned in 12 points for the
Bisons, who shot 44.4 percent from the floor and outscored Liberty at the foul
line 23-11.

Alabama has simply dominated its opponents at both sides of the court thus
far, as it is averaging 80.3 ppg while holding its foes to just 62.8 ppg. The
team has also fared well on the boards, outrebounding its opponents by 10.3
rpg. Alonzo Gee is the squad’s top scorer at the moment with 16.7 ppg and he
is also collecting 5.4 rpg. Richard Hendrix adds 15.2 ppg and a healthy 9.0
rpg to this balanced attack, while Jermareo Davidson is nearly averaging a
double-double with 14.5 ppg and a team-high 9.9 rpg. Mykal Riley contributes
11.8 ppg and 5.9 rpg, and Ronald Steele rounds out the double-figure scorers
with 11.0 ppg to go along with 4.6 apg. In the squad’s prior outing, Gee
tallied 26 points and pulled down nine boards in leading the Tide to an easy
win over Coppin State. Hendrix recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10
rebounds for Alabama, which shot a sizzling 60.9 percent from the floor and
dominated the boards 52-24.
