Boggan, Oklahoma State downs Baylor
Stillwater, OK (Sports Network) – Mario Boggan had a game-high 26 points and
13 rebounds to lead the 12th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys to an 81-77 victory
over the Baylor Bears at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
JamesOn Curry added 20 points and Terrel Harris contributed 13 points for the
Cowboys (15-1, 1-0 Big 12), who have won their last four games.
Kevin Rogers had 18 points and six rebounds and Tweety Carter added 15 points
for the Bears (10-4, 0-1), who had a four-game winning streak snapped.
The game was tight early in the first half, but a 12-2 run by the Cowboys put
the team up 29-18 when Boggan put in a layup with a little over five minutes
left in the first half.
Another 8-0 run towards the end of the first half helped Oklahoma State take a
37-24 lead into the locker room.
The Cowboys increased their lead to 15 points when Boggan put in a layup for a
47-32 lead a little over five minutes into the second half.
The Bears responded with a 9-3 run and cut their deficit to nine points,
50-41, when Patrick Fields put in a layup with a little over 12 minutes to
play. But, Oklahoma State responded with consecutive baskets to push its
advantage to 13 points with about 11 minutes to play.
Byron Eaton hit a free throw with under three minutes to play to give the
Cowboys a 69-58 advantage.
However, Baylor did not give up and an 8-2 run cut its deficit to 71-66 after
Tim Bush drained a trey with 1:15 to play.
Oklahoma State, though, hit its free throws over the remainder of the game to
hold on for the victory.
Oklahoma State plays at Kansas on Wednesday…Baylor hosts Texas A&M on
Tuesday…Kenny Cooper contributed eight points and 10 boards for the
Cowboys…Henry Dugat had 13 points and seven assists for the Bears…Oklahoma
State shot 45 percent from the floor while Baylor made 42 percent of its
