Appleby leads No. 24 Washington over Arizona State
Seattle, WA (Sports Network) – Ryan Appleby scored 20 points to lead 24th-
ranked Washington over Arizona State, 64-53, at Bank of America Arena.
Appleby hit 6-of-8 three-pointers to help the Huskies (11-4, 1-3 Pac-10) end a
three-game slide. Jon Brockman added 16 points and 10 rebounds for Washington,
which used a 10-4 run in the second half to pull away and earn its first
Jeff Pendergraph had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Sun Devils (6-9,
0-4), who have dropped five in a row. Derek Glasser added 13 points for
Arizona State, which remains winless in conference play.
After the Sun Devils’ Antwi Atuahene drained a three-pointer at the 10:36 mark
to draw ASU within 43-40, Washington went on its run. The Huskies answered
with a 10-4 surge, capped by Appleby’s three-pointer with 4:42 left for a
53-44 advantage. Brockman had five points during the surge, which allowed the
Huskies to cruise to the final buzzer.
