Wolf Pack rout Vandals
Reno, NV (Sports Network) – Marcelus Kemp scored 22 points as No. 21 Nevada
began its quest for a fourth straight WAC title by routing Idaho, 81-55, at
Lawlor Events Center.
Nick Fazekas added 19 points for the Wolf Pack (13-1, 1-0 WAC), who have won
16 of their past 17 games in Reno.
Keoni Watson paced the overmatched Vandals (2-12, 0-2), who have lost 11 of
their past 12 games, with 19 points.
No other Idaho player scored in double figures in the game. Miles Webb
finished with eight points for the Vandals.
Nevada broke open the contest with a stifling defense in the first half. The
Wolf Pack held the Vandals to just 38 percent shooting en route to taking a
46-28 lead. Kemp paved a Nevada offense, that shot 59 percent, with 14 points.
The Wolf Pack continued to run away with the game in the second half. Kemp’s
jumper, 24 seconds into the frame, gave Nevada its first 20-point lead, 48-28.
Another Kemp bucket with about 13 1/2 minutes left gave the Wolf Pack a 30-
point cushion, 65-35.
Nevada coasted to the finish line from there.
Nevada now leads the all-time series 27-22…The lone loss for Nevada came
against UNLV four weeks ago… The Wolf Pack have won their last five meetings
