rebounds led the way as second-ranked North Carolina rolled past Florida
State, 84-58, at the Dean Smith Center. Brandan Wright scored 20 and grabbed
nine boards for the Tar Heels (14-1, 1-0 ACC), winners of 11 in a row. Danny
Green contributed eight points, seven rebounds and a pair of assists. Al
Thornton collected a game-high 29 points to go with 12 rebounds for the
Seminoles (12-4, 0-2), who have lost two straight following an eight-game
winning streak. Jason Rich was the only other FSU player to finish in double
figures with 10.

attack with 11 points in addition to five assists, as the 10th-ranked Panthers
defeated the South Florida Bulls, 69-48, in Big East action at Petersen Events
Center. Antonio Graves, Ronald Ramon and Mike Cook all chipped in with nine
points for the Panthers (14-2, 2-0 Big East), who shot 63 percent from three-
point range en route to winning their fourth straight game. Fields and Ramon
each hit three treys in the win, the Panthers first in three all-time meetings
with South Florida. Kentrell Gransberry had a game-high 14 points in addition
to nine rebounds for the Bulls (9-7, 0-2), who have lost six of their last

Watkins chipped in with 14 points and 10 boards. Jerel McNeal tallied 16
points for the Golden Eagles (13-4, 0-2), who lost their second straight game
to open conference play. Wesley Matthews netted 14 points for Marquette, but
star guard Dominic James scored just six points on 3-of-12 shooting.

Duke Crews had 18 points and six rebounds as the 19th-ranked Tennessee
Volunteers defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 92-84, at Thompson-Boling
Arena. Lofton made 6-of-12 shots, including 1-of-4 from three-point
distance, while Crews made 6-of-9 from the floor for Tennessee (13-2, 1-0
SEC). Ramar Smith chipped in with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting and JaJuan
Smith contributed 12 points in the win. Jamont Gordon led Mississippi State
(9-5, 0-1 SEC) with a game-high 25 points and grabbed 11 boards. Charles
Rhodes and Reginald Delk added 15 points apiece in the loss.
