Odom extended at South Carolina
Columbia, SC (Sports Network) – South Carolina men’s head basketball coach
Dave Odom inked a two-year extension on Monday that will keep him under
contract until the 2009-10 season.
“Dave Odom is a tremendous basketball coach and ambassador for the University
of South Carolina,” said athletic director Eric Hyman. “We have the utmost
confidence in his ability to lead our program.”
Odom is in his sixth season at South Carolina, where he has amassed a 110-72
record. He has guided the Gamecocks to an NCAA Tournament appearance, two NIT
championships and one NIT runner-up finish during that time.
Prior to taking over the Gamecocks, Odom served as head coach at Wake Forest
from 1989-2001, garnering a national coach of the year and three ACC Coach of
the Year awards in that span.
“I am both grateful and appreciative of the confidence shown in me, my staff
and our basketball program by Eric and our University,” Odom said.
