No. 16 LSU topples Ole Miss

Baton Rouge, LA (Sports Network) – Tasmin Mitchell posted 19 points on 6-of-14
shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead 16th-ranked LSU past Ole Miss, 62-55.

Terry Martin scored 15 points for the Tigers (13-4, 2-1 Southeastern), who
have won six of their last seven games overall and after dropping a 10-point
decision to Alabama in the SEC opener, rebounded for a 65-63 triumph over
Auburn on Saturday.

Glen Davis posted 11 points and eight rebounds while Darnell Lazare added
eight points for LSU, which is a stellar 11-1 at home.

Clarence Sanders scored 12 points for Ole Miss (12-6, 1-3), which managed to
halt a three-game skid Saturday with a 74-72 victory over a talented Arkansas
squad. Dwayne Curtis notched 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Kenny Williams
added 10 points in defeat.

Ole Miss trailed just 47-46 after Sanders’ jumper with 5:14 remaining, however
that was as close as it got.

LSU scored the next six points capped by a Mitchell trey with a tick under
four minutes left, and cruised to victory thereafter.

The Tigers started pulling away early, going on a 15-5 spurt capped by a
Mitchell jumper with 7:36 remaining, but scored just one more bucket down the
stretch and led 29-23 at halftime.

The Rebels shot 24-for-60 (40 percent) from the floor, while the Tigers
finished 21-for-46 (46 percent).
