Kemp, Nevada down Fresno State
Reno, NV (Sports Network) – Marcelus Kemp scored a game-high 22 points,
including 15 in the second half, and dished out seven assists to lead No. 15
Nevada to an 85-75 romp of Fresno State at Lawlor Events Center.
Nick Fazekas recorded his 53rd career double-double with 20 points and 10
rebounds for the Wolf Pack (17-1, 5-0 Western Athletic Conference), who have
won 10 consecutive games.
Denis Ikovlev added 18 points while Ramon Sessions had 14 and pulled
down nine boards in the win.
Nevada shot 48 percent from the field in the contest.
Dominic McGuire netted 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting for the Bulldogs (13-5,
2-3), who have dropped three in a row. Hector Hernandez contributed 13 points
while Quinton Hosley and Ja’Vance Coleman each scored 12 apiece in defeat.
Ikovlev’s three-pointer broke a 25-25 tie with 5:13 left in the first half and
Kemp drilled a trey to give the Wolf Pack a 41-37 lead at halftime.
The Bulldogs knotted the game at 44 on Coleman’s jumper early in the second,
but Kemp nailed a layup and it was all Nevada from that point forward.
Fresno State finished 38 percent shooting from the floor.
