No. 7 Ohio State brings hammer down on Iowa

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) – Greg Oden posted a career-high 29 points on
12-for-13 shooting and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, as Big Ten rivals
collided in Columbus with the seventh-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes cruising past
the Iowa Hawkeyes, 82-63.

Ron Lewis scored 12 points for the Buckeyes (16-3, 4-1 Big Ten), who have now
won three straight games and six of the last seven. Daequan Cook notched 11
points and seven rebounds, while Mike Conley, Jr. added eight points and 10
assists.

Tyler Smith netted 21 points for Iowa (10-9, 2-3), which has suffered losses
in three of the last four games. Adam Haluska contributed 15 points as the
only other Hawkeye in double figures.

Just as Iowa started to rally, cutting its deficit to just four with 11:04
remaining, OSU regained supreme control on a 21-2 explosion capped on an Oden
dunk with 5:25 to go.

Iowa managed to fight back on an 8-0 spurt capped by a Tony Freeman jumper
with 2:56 left, but that only trimmed its deficit to 15, as OSU cruised to
victory thereafter.

OSU burst out of the gate on a 9-0 spurt capped by an Ivan Harris trey just
under three minutes into the game. However, Iowa quickly regrouped on an 11-2
run capped by a Haluska trey with 14:22 remaining to tie the score at 11. The
Buckeyes scored the final five points of the half, and led 37-26 at the break.

Game Notes
