Hokies hold off Terrapins in OT

Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) – Zabian Dowdell scored 19 points to lead
23rd-ranked Virginia Tech over Maryland, 67-64, in overtime at Cassell

Jamon Gordon added 16 points and seven rebounds and Coleman Collins recorded
11 points and 14 boards for the Hokies (14-5, 4-1 ACC), who rebounded from
their lone conference loss suffered on Wednesday to Florida State to win for
the fifth time in six outings.

D.J. Strawberry had 16 points to lead the Terps (15-5, 1-4), who have dropped
two straight and three of four.

Down by eight points late in the second half, the Terps went on an 11-3 run to
force overtime. Strawberry scored three points during the run.

In overtime, Dowdell scored four of his points, helping the Hokies to victory.

Maryland had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but never got a
three-pointer off.

Virginia Tech improved to 10-0 at home this season.

Game Notes

The Hokies improved to 6-25 all-time versus the Terps…Maryland fell to 2-3
on the road…Dowdell has led the Hokies in scoring in seven straight games.
