Air Force dominates TCU

Colorado Springs, CO (Sports Network) – Dan Nwaelele scored 13 points as the
16th-ranked Air Force Falcons crushed TCU, 72-39, in Mountain West Conference
action at Clune Arena.

Matt McCraw and Tim Anderson each chipped in with 11 points for the Falcons
(19-2, 6-1 MWC), who have won 14 of their last 15 games and 27 straight home

Brent Hackett led TCU (10-8, 2-4) with a nine-point effort, while Kevin
Langford and Alvardo Parker each had eight points on the night. The Horned
Frogs lost for the fourth straight time thanks, in large part, to a 32.6
percent shooting effort and a stifling Air Force defense.

The Falcons opened a seven-point lead at the start of the first half after
McCraw’s trey, but Neiman Owens drained one of his own to pull the Horned
Frogs within four.

Air Force then used a 9-1 spurt to take control of the contest, holding a 19-6
margin on John Frye’s three-point shot with 8:32 remaining.

The Falcons also controlled the end of the first half, as Jacob Burtschi’s
layup ignited a 10-1 run, capped by McCraw’s trey.

Air Force led 33-15 at the break on 60 percent shooting. TCU, meanwhile, was
just 5-of-19 on field goal attempts and 2-of-10 from beyond the arc as it
limped into the second half.

The Horned Frogs fared no better after intermission, as Anwar Johnson’s
midcourt steal and subsequent dunk opened an insurmountable 53-28 Air Force

The Falcons then cruised to the final buzzer, ending the game with a 61.9
percent shooting effort. Air Force also grabbed 32 rebounds in the contest, 10
better than TCU.
