Tigers sizzle from perimeter, rout SMU

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) – Doneal Mack scored 17 points and Chris Douglas-
Roberts added 15, as 11th-ranked Memphis notched its 11th straight win with an
88-52 rout of SMU at FedEx Forum.

Mack made each of his six shots, including five from three-point range, for
the Tigers (19-3, 9-0 Conference USA), who haven’t lost since a 79-71 setback
at Arizona on December 20.

Douglas-Roberts hit 7-of-10 from the field in the victory, as Memphis shot a
sizzling 61 percent overall and connected on 15-of-25 from beyond the arc.
Willie Kemp chipped in 11 points and Robert Dozier scored 10 for the Tigers,
who have also won 26 straight home games.

Ike Ofoegbu scored 17 to lead SMU (13-9, 2-6), which had won two of its
previous three games.

Memphis raced out to an 8-2 lead and never trailed. The Mustangs were as close
as 10-9 and trailed 23-19 before the Tigers started to pull away.

Jeremy Hunt drilled a three-pointer to ignite an 18-4 run. Douglas-Roberts
scored six during the spurt and Mack added a pair of three-pointers, the last
giving Memphis a comfortable 41-23 cushion with just over two minutes to play
in the half.

Douglas-Roberts led Memphis with 13 points and Mack added 12 in the opening 20
minutes for the Tigers, who built a 46-26 advantage and shot 64 percent in the
first half.

The outcome was never in doubt after the break, as the lead reached 33 with
just over 12 minutes left on a three-pointer by Andre Allen and peaked at 38
late in the contest.

Kemp made 3-of-6 three-point tries and Hunt was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc to
finish with nine points…The Tigers recorded 25 assists on 34 baskets…The
Mustangs hit only 3-of-16 three-point attempts and were outrebounded 35-22.
