Missouri knocks off No. 18 Oklahoma State
Stillwater, OK (Sports Network) – Keon Lawrence scored 18 points, on 8-of-11
shooting, as the Missouri Tigers shocked No. 18 Oklahoma State, 75-64, at
Matt Lawrence added 15 points and Marshall Brown pitched in with 12 for
Missouri (16-9, 5-7 Big 12), which has won three of its last four.
Mario Boggan and Jameson Curry both deposited 16 points for the Cowboys (19-7,
5-6), who lost at home for the first time all season. Kenny Cooper scored 10
for the Cowboys, who have lost four of their last five games.
Keon Lawrence’s three put Missouri up 48-41 early in the second half as the
Tigers started to take control. Missouri was able to stretch its lead to 53-43
following a Matt Lawrence triple and a Leo Lyons dunk.
The Cowboys cut the deficit in half with five straight points, but the Tigers’
lead was back to 62-52 after another Matt Lawrence trey.
Moments later Brown hit a three to beat the shot clock and put Missouri up
67-56 with 5:18 left to play.
Oklahoma State never got within seven the rest of the way
The Cowboys jumped on Missouri early with an 8-0 run to start the game.
Moments later, a Matt Lawrence three ignited a 12-4 Tigers run, pulling
Missouri within one, 16-15, midway through the half,
The two Big 12 rivals exchanged buckets the rest of the way and entered the
half tied at 35.
It was Oklahoma State’s first home loss since February 13, 2006, against
Kansas…For the Tigers, it was their first win in Stillwater since Big 12
play began in 1996…Missouri recorded its first win over a ranked foe under
first-year coach Mike Anderson.
