Toledo tops Eastern Michigan, advances to MAC semifinals
Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) – Justin Ingram scored 14 points and added
eight rebounds and six steals to lead Toledo to a 62-54 victory over Eastern
Michigan in the Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinals at Quicken
Jonathan Amos added 13 points, seven rebounds and five steals for the top-
seeded Rockets (19-11), who have won their last five games.
Toledo, which is seeking its first title since the inaugural season of the
tournament in 1980, will face the winner of the Ohio versus Miami-Ohio contest
in the semifinals on Friday.
Freshman Justin Dobbins had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Eagles
(13-19), who turned the ball over 21 times leading to 28 points for Toledo.
Toledo trailed early, but a 9-0 run capped by a Keonta Howell dunk made it
24-15 and Toledo took a 35-32 lead into the locker room.
A 13-2 run by the Rockets gave Toledo a 12-point lead late in the second half
and Eastern Michigan was never able to get back into the contest.
Toledo shot 39.3 percent in the contest while Eastern Michigan hit 37.9
percent of its shots.
