Lessett resigns from Maryland-Eastern Shore

Princess Anne, MD (Sports Network) – University of Maryland-Eastern Shore
men’s head basketball coach Larry Lessett resigned his post on Wednesday.

The Fighting Hawks went just 4-27 this season, including a 1-17 mark in Mid-
Eastern Athletic Conference play.

“We thank Coach Lessett for his contributions to the University and wish him
well in his future endeavors,” said UMES Director of Athletics Keith

In three seasons at the helm, Lessett’s teams posted a combined 13-75.

Prior to joining UMES, Lessett spent three years as a global scout for Magic
Johnson International Basketball. Before that he served as head coach of the
Magic City Snowbears of the International Basketball Association (IBA), where
he coached the team to a franchise record in wins and a playoff appearance in
his only season.

Lessett also had collegiate coaching stops at Hiwassee College in
Madisonville, Tennessee and was an assistant coach at Mercer University, De
Anza College, Georgia Southwestern College, Georgia College, Santa Barbara
City College, Western New Mexico University, Loyola Marymount University and
Cal State Northridge.
