Terps pull out first-round win over Davidson

Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) – Mike Jones netted 17 points as Maryland escaped
with an 82-70 victory over Davidson in first round Midwest Region action of
the NCAA Tournament at HSBC Arena.

D.J. Strawberry added 12 points and eight rebounds for the fourth-seeded
Terrapins (25-8), who made their way back into the NCAA Tournament after a
two-year hiatus.

Maryland now moves on to the second round this weekend to tangle with the
winner of the Old Dominion/Butler contest later today.

Stephen Curry poured in a game-high 30 points for the 13th-seeded Wildcats
(29-5), who ran over Chattanooga, Furman and the College of Charleston to win
their ninth Southern Conference Tournament title back on March 3 to advance to
the Big Dance.
