Colorado State names Miles new hoops coach
Fort Collins, CO (Sports Network) – Colorado State University named Tim Miles
the school’s new head men’s basketball coach on Thursday.
Miles replaces Dale Layer, who was fired on March 12 after the Rams went 17-13
this past season with a 6-10 record in the Mountain West Conference,
earning them a sixth-place finish.
“Tim was an individual from the outset of the search that we identified as our
top candidate. He exemplifies the qualities we sought in our head coach,” said
director of athletics Paul Kowalczyk.
Miles, who becomes the 19th men’s basketball coach in CSU school history, most
recently served as the head coach at North Dakota State, a position he has
held since 2001.
“I am honored with the opportunity to be the head coach at Colorado State,”
said Miles. “I am excited to get started. It is essential that our players
realize the value of their education at CSU. Academics is our top priority. We
also want to represent this program, this university, and this community in a
first-class manner at all times.”
