Albany extends Brown’s contract
Albany, NY (Sports Network) – The University of Albany has extended the
contract of men’s basketball coach Will Brown one more year through the
2011-12 season, as the two sides agreed to a restructured deal.
Albany finished the 2006-07 campaign with a record of 23-10 and made a trip
to the NCAA Tournament for a second straight year, this time losing to
Virginia in the first round.
Brown finished his sixth season as Albany’s coach, helping the school to its
second consecutive America East Conference championship.
“The University at Albany continues to show a commitment to the school’s
basketball program and the entire athletics department,” said Brown, whose
team has won 44 games over the last two seasons. “Our student-athletes and
coaching staff have worked hard to make this program something that everyone
can be proud of. I continue to be appreciative of the support shown by the
community and students.”
The 35-year-old Brown has a record of 76-93 at Albany. He took over on an
interim basis in December of 2001, then was given the full-time position after
the 2001-02 season.
