Bonnies to name Schmidt head coach

Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) – St. Bonaventure is expected to name Robert
Morris’ Mark Schmidt its new men’s basketball coach.

The Buffalo News is reporting that the 44-year old Schmidt will get a seven-
year deal worth in excess of $2 million and a press conference to announce his
hiring has been scheduled for 12:30 p.m. (et) Tuesday.

Schmidt compiled an 82-90 record in six years at Robert Morris, but finished
17-11 last season.

Prior to taking over the Robert Morris program, Schmidt served seven seasons
at Xavier as an assistant coach under Skip Prosser.

Schmidt will replace Anthony Solomon at St. Bonaventure. Solomon’s Bonnies
finished last season with an overall record of 7-22 and a 4-12 mark in the
Atlantic 10.

Solomon, who was hired in May 2003, compiled a 24-88 record during his tenure
at St. Bonaventure.
