Jordan’s Playoff Bracket with First Round Preview

Jordan's Playoff Bracket with First Round Preview

First Round: Eastern Conference

(1) Boston Celtics vs. (8) Atlanta Hawks: Boston wins in four.
Duh.

(2) Detroit Pistons vs. (7) Philadelphia 76ers: Detroit wins in four.
This is what happens when teams with losing records make the playoffs. Sweep.

(3) Orlando Magic vs. (6) Toronto Raptors: Orlando wins in six.
The Raptors actually match-up well with Orlando at every position with the exception of center. Dwight Howard dominates and Orlando wins.

(4) Cleveland Cavaliers vs. (5) Washington Wizards: Cleveland wins in six.
So much has been made of this series, in the media hype machine, but in reality the same lack of reliable bigs will cost Washington. Oh and LeBron is in Gilbert Arenas’s head, not the other way around.

First Round: Western Conference

(1) Los Angeles Lakers vs. (8) Denver Nuggets: L.A. wins in six.
Every team in the West is a 50 game winner, so no match-up is easy. Lots of points will be scored, but L.A.’s ability to get the key stops defensively tilt a couple close games in their favor.

(2) New Orleans Hornets vs. (7) Dallas Mavericks: New Orleans wins in six.
New Orleans is the better team, but their lack of postseason experience will cost them a couple of games. Bottom line: Chris Paul trumps Kidd… David West trumps Nowitzki.

(3) San Antonio Spurs vs. (6) Phoenix Suns: San Antonio wins in five.
Phoenix destroyed their chances against a team like the Spurs when they let Kurt Thomas get away (Duncan stopper), and traded away Shawn Marion (Ginobili/Parker stopper). They have no answers for the Spurs best players, and no, Shaq isn’t enough.

(4) Utah Jazz vs. (5) Houston Rockets: Utah wins in seven.
Rafer Alston (Skip!) has taken his game to another level, and elevated the Rockets this season. His injury (hamstring) will cost the Rockets at least one of the first two games, too much in this close series.
