Sundiata Gaines: From Call-up to Game-winner
If you didn’t know the name Sundiata Gaines, you should by now. The former UGA guard looked like a long shot to make the league at one point, and just two weeks ago he was still suiting up for the D-League’s Idaho Stampede. Their NBA affiliate, however, couldn’t deny the 6’1” guard’s talent or numbers, and so it came to pass that the feisty point ended up filling in for the Utah Jazz. It was in just such a capacity that he leapt to prominence last night as he took over Deron Williams’ duties after Williams reinjured his right wrist, burying a three-pointer as time expired to give the Jazz the win over the LeBron-led Cleveland Cavaliers.
Check out the clips below for a look at the most recent steps in Sundiata Gaines’ journey, from the moment he found out he was being called up to his triumphant game-winner last night.
