Nike Leaks News that Shannon Brown Will Compete in Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

Nike Leaks News that Shannon Brown Will Compete in Sprite Slam Dunk ContestWas Shannon Brown’s previous announcement that the NBA hadn’t contacted him to compete in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest just a bluff?  Could the 6’3" guard with the ungodly springs just have not known that he was going to be a competitor?  Either way, it’s pretty clear at this point that Shannon Brown will be taking part in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest, and we know that because Nike kinda-sorta leaked it.

You see, Nike decided it might be nice to run a little competition on their site in which they challenged the fans to customize a Nike Kobe V for Brown to wear during the contest.  The problem is that they announced the contest a couple of days before anyone was supposed to know that Brown would be taking place.  Oops.

Well, while we may have found it out due to a goof by Nike, I think most folks will be happy to hear that Shannon Brown will be taking place in the dunk contest.  With a vertical jump easily north of forty inches and the body control to make the most of his hops, Shannon Brown could be one of the more interesting competitors we’ve seen in the contest for a while.

So, what do you think?  Will Shannon Brown live up to the hype and make a real showing?  Now that we know two of the contestants (well, sort of), who do you think should round out the field?  Let us know what you think by dropping a comment in the box below.
