Reporter Covering Blindfolded Halfcourt Shot Makes No-Look Halfcourt Shot

So here’s the story: Recently, a group of students from Olathe Northwest attempted to recreate a web prank in which a patsy is tricked into believing that he has hit a blindfolded halfcourt shot for a prize.  Their shenanigans backfired, however, when the patsy in question, a former NCAA basketball player, beat the odds by actually making the friggin’ shot.  Here’s the clip:

That’s not the end of it, though.  Not long after the video hit the interwebs, a local reporter visited the high school to film a filler segment on the lucky shot, finishing his piece to camera by flinging the ball backwards from the half.  Naturally, he made the friggin’ shot.

So what’s the moral of this story?  Sometimes, weird shit happens.  Oh, and even though the students running the initial prank didn’t have any Final Four tickets on hand when the unexpected came to pass, a soon-to-be-revealed donor has stepped up to give the teacher, Joel Branstrom, and his family free tickets, transport and accommodation for the semi-finals and finals games in Indianapolis this April.
