Video Highlights of the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown

If you’ve been following HoopsVibe and the streetball scene for the past few years, the name Air Up There will already be familiar to you.  The man born TJ Fontenette and briefly known as Mr. 720 for the double-rotation dunk he can complete was a strong favourite going into last night’s Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown final.  Unlike the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest itself, the Showdown was open to the public, with elimination stages being held in cities all over the country to find the nation’s finest dunkers.

In the end, it came down to Flight, Young Hollywood and Air Up There.  While the former two put in admirable performances, AUT set himself apart with a pair of dunks that sent LeBron James running off the court.  The first was his patented between-the-legs 360, the second a stunning baseline 360 reverse jam.  If either dunk sounds improbable, I don’t blame you.  You’ll just have to check out the clip below.  Try not to scream too loud when you see what he does.
