Are you a believer now??
So my friend, who hails from Puerto Rico but lives in New York City, sends me a message over gchat yesterday asking me something to the effect of (and I'm paraphrasing here), "Are you ready for my boy Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks to beat up on the Heat?" Even though I'm a HUGE Jeremy Lin fan, him and I exchanged a few lines of gchat cyber trash talk because in my opinion, the Heat are just on another level right now. As much as I love New York as a city and Jeremy Lin as a player, let's not get crazy here. They still have work to do as a team and the fact that my boy thought they were going to come out and trounce the Heat, in Miami, was borderline comedy.
So that brought us to the game last night, where after the clock ran out at the end, the Heat had prevailed 102-88. But it really wasn't that close to be honest. It was the eighth straight win for Miami, all of which have been by more than 12 points. Chris Bosh had 25, Dwade 22, Lebron had 20, and Jeremy Lin had 8. They forced Lin to turn the ball over 8 times. Both Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole (point guard and backup alike) stole the ball from Lin only to finish their respective steals with respective dunks. It was Lin's worst game by far. And don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Jeremy Lin and the Knicks. I think they're in good hands with D'Antoni, Staudemire, Anthony, and Lin. Lin is just going to get better and so will their team. With that lineup, honestly, there's no excuse for them not to be a serious competitor in the Eastern Conference.
But for those that weren't fully sold on the Heat this season, you might want to reconsider. Say what you want about the "decision" etc etc but the fact of the matter is, they're playing damn good basketball. They're explosive, they hustle, they have the best transition game in the league by far, and they are not concerned about how hot any player or team they play for, might be.
So I just gave my boy, @karlamalia, a quick call and asked him again what I ask all of our readers now about the Miami Heat: "Are you a believer yet?"
